My visit behind the scenes at Jimmy & Shivi's Farmhouse Breakfast - Yes! We are on TV!
It all started with an email!....Would you like to appear on Jimmy & Shivi’s Farmhouse Breakfast with a celebrity they asked? To which I immediately phoned back ( very un-cool like!) and said I’d love to!
With that direct enquiry I was flabbergasted! And that was the start of lots of fun and preparation with only two weeks notice to get on set and film!
Jump forward to a week before and it was announced which craft from the choice of our workshops they would like to feature on the programme!
Creative Tie Dye Effect was the chosen one! We already new how popular kids had found when we were asked to teach workshops at Westfield London The Good Festival a sustainable workshop encouraging reuse,
There was a lot of to and throwing of emails with the lead up to the filming date. One of the most important things was going timing! This craft normally takes 45 min and our slot was going to under half that! If you have had chance to watch the time we had was very minimal!
So a couple of days before I was due to be on set, the assistant producer was now organising the final details with us and they announced the celebrity to me! Yes! the one and only JB Gill! Once JLS member now turned farmer! How exciting!
Now was the time for me to race around and source some second hand T’Shirts which would benefit from having a glow up! Perfect for this craft as we encourage re-use and upcycling. So if you have a mark on a favourite piece of clothing you can creatively disguise it! The perfect way to upcycle and have fun!

Up early on the Saturday morning ready for filming! Very nervous and I really don’t think I had much sleep but I was very ready! We were all off on a family AB business adventure!
All packed, we headed off to Jimmy’s Farm film set which is at a secluded location away from Jimmy’s Farm. As we arrived at the entry gates, part of me was very excited and part was, shall I say! Very nervous!!
We drove in, parked up and made our way to the film set.
Passing lots of film cameras everywhere and people milling around, we were lead to a big barn. Inside was a busy kitchen area and then we found The Green Room which was an area of straw bales for seating!
After we had sat for a few minutes, JB made his way towards us to sit down. He introduced himself…what a gent! And a few seconds of talking to him he put me at ease!
This is probably a good time to say that all these surroundings made me feel very comfortable as I was brought up on an arable farm in neighbouring Essex! Even our chat with JB about his farm in North Kent where we connected in a conversation about rearing turkeys! and I shared some childhood memories of farm life. JB was so kind to me, reassuring me as this was my first time on TV!
Just in front of where we were sitting was a hair and make-up area. I could see Shivi sitting in the chair and Victoria was assisting with her hair and make up…so glamorous!! Pinch me! I’d arrived with my hair up and not much make up as I normally do which obviously they were happy with! didn’t have the guts to ask could you make me look a little more glamourous too!
Jimmy then introduced himself and then went straight to the outside set to start filming. with Shivi and the production crew. We were told we could watch but must be very quiet! We would be on in about 20 mins so sat and watched Jimmy & Shivi start filming.
So many camera's! The film company Rock Oyster Media where amazing! such a great bunch who looked after us
JB's creative Tshirt!
